Dr. Katie, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Katie is a dedicated veterinarian with a passion for companion animal care and animal welfare. Originally from Old Mandeville. Louisiana, she attended St. Scholastica Academy and went on to earn both her undergraduate degree and veterinary doctorate from Louisiana State University. A member of the prestigious Phi Zeta Honor Society, Dr. Katie graduated from veterinary school in 2010.
After starting her career in equine sports medicine at the racetrack, Dr. Katie transitioned to companion animal medicine when she began her family eight years ago. Today, she is committed to providing comprehensive care for her patients, both large and small. With a particular interest in ophthalmology, dentistry, wound management, and veterinary business operations, Dr. Katie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice.
Outside of work, Dr. Katie enjoys spending time with her family, including her son, her three dogs, and her ball python, Cheeto. In her spare time, she is an avid reader, a fitness enthusiast, and a skilled home renovator.
Dr. Zurawka, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Heidi Zurawka grew up in Southfield, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, and began her academic journey at the University of Findlay in Ohio where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida. Dr. Zurawka then completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Florida Veterinary Specialists as well as an internship in Wildlife Rehabilitation Medicine and Surgery at Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) near Seattle, Washington. She completed her residency in Zoological Medicine and Surgery with the Wildlife Conservation Society at the Bronx Zoo. After living in 8 other states, Dr. Zurawka made her way to Mississippi in 2011 where she loves living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!
Dr. Zurawka’s professional interests include wound care, emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, neurological disorders, pediatrics, and ultrasound. She also enjoys treating zoo, wildlife, and aquatic animal species. Her favorite part of practicing small animal medicine is being a voice for pets who cannot advocate for themselves and building relationships with the families who love them.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Zurawka enjoys horseback riding, scuba diving, going to the beach, spending time outdoors, playing tennis, music, and traveling. She and her husband, Rick, are proud parents of one son who attends Mississippi State University. They have two cats, Theophilus Bolt and Miss Kitty Belle Butterscotch (named for the true Southern belle that she is), and a bearded dragon named Yhorm.
